KUALA LUMPUR, Aug 13 (Bernama) -- Malaysia has made an offer for the children of the poor in Indonesia, Brunei and Singapore to pursue studies at local Islamic institutions, Minister in the Prime Minister's Department Maj Gen (Rtd) Datuk Jamil Khir Baharom said Thursday.
He said the children could pursue their studies at the Baitulmal Skills Institute, Baitulmal Professional Institute, Sarawak Skills Institute and Darul Quran.
"The effort is aimed at, among others, eradicating poverty among the Muslims from the three countries," he told reporters after attending the 13th special meeting of the ministers of religion from Malaysia, Brunei, Indonesia and Singapore, here Thursday.
He said the meeting also decided that the aim to be a better human being should be the main focus of all Muslims and various plans and activities should be organised to achieve the goal. -- BERNAMA
