KOTA KINABALU, Aug 13 (Bernama) -- The "cross fertilisation" programme that will see public sector officers being loaned to government-linked companies (GLCs) or the private sector and vice-versa will begin on Sept 1, said Chief Secretary to the Government, Tan Sri Mohd Sidek Hassan.

He said for a start 20 GLC officers will be placed in various ministries and government agencies.

In that regard, he asked the Public Service Commission (PSC) and agencies involved to give their cooperation and utmost attention to make the programme a success and to ensure that the structure of the public service can be strengthened by attracting excellent staff and the best talents.

The PSC should seek suitable methods to identify talent for intake, he said at the closing ceremony for the 12th Conference of Public Service Commissions here Thursday.

On April 28, Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak proposed an open door policy whereby public service officers could be loaned to GLCs and the public sector and vice-versa.

The prime minister also proposed that the public service structure be changed via an entry system on intake at various levels between the public and private sectors to fill main public service posts.

Mohd Sidek said the PSC needed to give priority to clients and give importance to achievements through continuous efforts to interact with clients to get feedback, opinions and views related to services provided. -- BERNAMA
